You may not get a chance to know Jennifer Lawrence better on social media, but she may notice you on Twitter or Instagram. The Academy Award-winning actress reveals that she’s been secretly active on social media, years after saying that she would never sign up on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
The 28-year-old star, however, still limits her activity to just being a silent observer. “I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur,” she says in an interview with. Declaring that she won’t post anything on it, she adds, “I watch, I don’t speak.”
Of why she refuses to speak up her mind on social media, the Katniss Everdeen of “The Hunger Games” film series explains, “There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything. I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me.”
Jennifer’s ability to control what she needs to say comes as she grows older, according to the star. “Yes. I’m starting to get a little more control over myself,” she tells the magazine. “Like, I’m aware that I have a tendency to say whatever pops into my mind. So when I go out, I try to be my own personal trainer and tell myself, ‘Don’t say it.’ ”
Her current activity on social media proves that Jennifer has changed her stance a bit about the web-based technologies. Back in 2014, she said that she totally avoided it because there’s so much negativity on it.
“It’s fine, I respect that, but no, I’ll never get a Twitter. If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not,” she said four years ago. “It’s because the internet has scorned me so much that I feel like it’s that girl in high school that I’m like, ‘Oh, you want to talk about her? Yeah I’ll do that!’ Take my hoops off, I’m ready to go.”
