Future, who is widely known for his hip-hop songs, has taken a turn to a more poppy direction. The Atlanta rapper is ready to take over pop music charts when he unveiled on his YouTube page a new song entitled “Take You Back” on Wednesday, September 12.
The song is clearly different from his usual grimy songs as it sounds more light and catchy. It finds the rapper reminiscing on a lost love he hopes to rekindle. “Never wanted to destroy you/ I did everything because of you,” he sings over an instrumental that is also used for CupcakKe‘s “33rd”. “You can love me, girl, it’s all you/ You’ll still be the one to fall through.”
“Take You Back” is the first single which Future released since unleashing his fourteenth mixtape “Beast Mode 2” on July 6. The mixtape consists of nine tracks and includes guest appearances from Young Scooter on track “Doh Doh”. It debuted at No. 3 on Billboard 200 chart after racking up 57,000 equivalent album units.
And “Take You Back” apparently is not the only new song that Future has for fans. A much-anticipated collaboration between the “Mask Off” rapper and Big Sean has recently leaked online. Titled “Know About Me”, the song was produced by Metro Boomin. The song features the two rappers describing the fame that they have received and how it has impacted their lives.
It was recently rumored that Future would be releasing a new album before he joined Nicki Minaj for their joint “NICKIHNDRXXX Tour”. He was initially set to join the raptress in both European and North American leg of the tour, but dropped out of the latter leg after it was postponed. The European leg itself will kick off in February 2019.
