Alex Borstein re-wore her wedding gown to the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night (September 17).
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star picked up the gong for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and looked stunning for the occasion in a plunging silver gown with flared sleeves.
Alex attended the ceremony in the dress she wore to marry “Gilmore Girls” actor Jackson Douglas, who she wed in 1999 and divorced in 2014.
“This is actually my wedding dress,” the 47-year-old told Glamour magazine on the Emmys red carpet. “This was from 20 years ago. The marriage didn’t last but the dress did and I wanted to give it new life so now it’s my Emmys dress. That’s the truth.”
Alex decided against upcycling the garment and kept it true to the original, and as she stood up to accept her award, she shrugged off the matching silk wrap and shimmyed towards the camera. However, the actress switched up one aspect of the outfit in contrast to her big day.
“I went without the bra,” she admitted as she reached the stage and began her acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, Alex wasn’t the only star to recycle an outfit at the Emmy awards.
Author and actress Padma Lakshmi opted for a plunging red J. Mendel gown with a thigh high split to the awards night, a design she first stepped out in last October at the Vogue India Women of the Year Awards in Mumbai. Padma added a blue ribbon pinned to her hip to show her support for the American Civil Liberties Union, the 48-year-old star said she hoped to send a powerful message with her bold wardrobe choice.
“I think in this day and age we should stop sending the message to young women and girls that we all have these endless closets of clothes we never wear more than once, especially on a red carpet,” she told People. “The hours that it takes, the artisans’ labour and the gorgeous fabrics all deserve to be worn again and treasured. It seems wasteful not to enjoy these dresses.”
