director confirmed the running time of Episode VIII to be 150 minutes, aka 2.5 hours. That was the word out there from several theater chains not too long ago, but sometimes those early counts turn out to be premature. But during a press conference in France, Johnson confirmed the run time.

Rian Johnson has just confirmed this rumor (although it was pretty concrete at the time) that the running time forwill be 150 minutes, officially making it the longest Star Wars movie ever.

Expect to hear a lot more from Rian Johnson going forward, since Lucasfilm has given him the keys to the franchise, letting him createseparate from the Episode I-IX Skywalker saga.
